These two opposing views of man help to illustrate the dramatic differences a single experience can have on two different people. The different degrees optimism and rational people have changes the way they experience the big and little things in life. Yet even though the experience varies, there is a connection between the physical things they experience, it is only with their outlook and what they take from the experience that they react in different ways.

Rational man/intuitive man
The intuitive man relies on the beauty of life for substance in his life and use optimism to and disillusionment to live in a cheerful world. The rational man, on the other hand, doesn't obtain the same happiness from things and instead views the world with a critical eye that causes him to use honestly and reason to seek the truths in life. The intuitive man, despite his joyous outlook on life, often falls hard for the disappointments that come in life. In addition to the hard fall, he also falls more often than the rational man because he does not learn from his mistakes and experiences in life. He consequently falls into the same holes and sorrows time after time. The rational man learns from his experience and controls himself through his reason. The implications that come from this stoic view on life, translates into a person who lives their life in fear of feelings and heartbreak. Nietzsche describes this man as, "when the storm cloud pours down upon him, he wraps himself in his overcoat and walks away under the rain with slow strides." Even the storm does not fade this man because reason and rational are what guides him. In one sense this helps him to not repeat the same mistakes and learn much more from everyday experience, but on the other, it forces him to only life live on the surface and never dive down to the feelings that only come with truly experiencing life. The intuitive man, however, experiences everything. Problems arise from this experiencing everything that crosses his path, and instead of being able to deal with rain and storms in life, the intuitive man falls hard into the sorrows of life. The lack of learning from experience causes the intuitive man to fall not only once, but every time the rains in life come.
