Analysis

One of the examples for Austin's discriptions of performative sentences which verbally must perform the action would be analyzing what actions should be taken in a certain situation. For example, in "The Road to Hell," the author spoke of how people from Europe would place boundaries between themselves and the people they were helping. This boundary was meant as protection for the Europeans, however, it caused insecurity within the people the Europeans were trying to help, and brought on more dangers from neighboring gangs. In stating what he thought should be done, the author was performing the action of analyzing, he was doing what he was saying. But it can be questioned whether you have to write your analysis in order to call it analysis.
